5 Simply Brilliant Recipes Using Texas Pure Milling All Purpose Baking Mix

Once you try Texas Pure Milling All Purpose Baking Mix you'll agree that it is absolutely divine, but you may not know how to make it into anything but the recipe on the back of the bag. So, we decided to share some of our favorite simply brilliant uses for the baking mix in five outstanding basic recipes.

Basic Biscuits

2 cups Texas Pure Milling All Purpose Baking Mix 1/2 -2/3 cup cold water or milk

Directions:

  • When measuring mix, be sure product is light and fluffy and scoop into measuring cups to measure a scant 2 cups.

  • In a medium bowl combine baking mix and cold water or milk. If mixture seems dry, add 2-3 Tablespoons more liquid.

  • Knead lightly on a floured counter top, just until blended. Roll 1 inch thick. Cut into 1 dozen 2 inch biscuits. bake 425° 10-12 minutes until golden brown.

Texas Pancakes

2 cups Texas Pure Milling All Purpose Baking Mix 3/4 cup milk

1 egg

1 tsp. vanilla (optional)

Directions:

  • In a medium bowl combine all ingredients until just moistened.

  • Scoop by 1/4 cup onto a hot greased griddle. Turn after 1-2 minutes. Yield: about 1 dozen 3-inch pancakes.

  • Serve warm drizzled with syrup or molasses if desired.

Basic Muffins

1 ½ cups Texas Pure Milling All Purpose Baking Mix 1 egg ½ cup water or milk ½ cup sugar

1 tsp. vanilla or 1/2 tsp. almond extract

Directions:

  • In a medium bowl, combine all ingredients.

  • Add ½ cup fruit or nuts if desired. In a standard muffin tin Divide into 6 standard muffins.

  • Bake at 425° 15-20 minutes.

Basic Fruit Cobblers

2 ½ cups Texas Pure Milling All-Purpose Baking Mix 1 tsp vanilla ½ cup sugar ¾ cups water or milk

2 cans pre-made pie filling OR 6 cups berries/peaches

Directions:

  • Mix just until combined.

  • Put over 6 cups of fruit or fruit filling in a 9-inch by 9-inch casserole.

  • Bake at 375° 35-40 minutes.

Basic English Scones

2 cups Texas Pure Milling All Purpose Baking Mix ½ cup brown sugar ½ cup milk

1 Tbsp. vanilla or 1 tsp. almond extract ½ cup chopped nut, dried fruit or chocolate chips

Directions:

  • Combine all ingredients in a medium bowl until just combined.

  • On a well-floured counter-top, Roll out in circle 1/2-inch-thick and cut into 6 wedges.

  • Bake 400° 15-17 minutes.
