Love You Pops...Cookie Pops for Dad

June 13, 2017

"Dad is amazing." We could just stop this post with that sentence and anyone who has been influenced by a good, strong, kind, hard working man would agree. Do you have one amazing Dad in your life? We at Texas Pure Milling are influenced daily by hard working strong farmers.  Have you met our farmers?

A Texas wheat farmer stands in his field with his young son by his side. They build this farm together. The first amber rays of warm sunlight illuminate his field as he hoists his son onto his shoulder. He is a giant of a man with a heart of gold. Generations before him have followed the American dream. A dream that is fueled by the love of country and marked by integrity. Inhale deep and you can feel a hundred years of faith, hard work, and quality.

You now hold all this in your hands.  You can bake a gift for Father's Day with confidence knowing that this grain comes from that pure field and trust that every bag of our flour is the best a Texas farmer can create. In Texas, we always see farther by standing on the shoulders of giants. We’re a family. When you bring his homestead to your home, this legacy continues, and will, for generations to come.

Gather the kids. We honor the good men in our lives today.  Make Dad a "I Love You Pop" and let him know just how thankful you are for the influence he has had and that he continues to have in your life.

2 cups sugar
3 large eggs
1 Tbsp. lemon zest, plus juice of one lemon
2 teaspoon vanilla
4 cups Texas Pure Milling All Purpose Flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt

Directions:

Cream butter and sugar.

Add eggs, lemon, juice and vanilla. Mix until creamy.

Add sifted dry ingredients: salt, soda, and flour.

Roll into balls and flatten with bottom of sugar coated glass or your hand.

Bake at 350° just until the edges start turning color 7-10 minutes, Time will vary depending on how large and thick you made your cookies. It is important not to over bake if you want the texture to remain chewy and soft.
