Classic Onion Sandwich and Burger Rolls

Do you want to make rolls, but find yourself short on time? This Recipe uses the convenience of a bread machine's dough setting to make the dough. We mixed them by hand and got great results as well. These rolls are fantastic for sandwiches and hamburgers. They really are a classic!

Classic Onion Sandwich and Burger Rolls

1 1/4 cup lukewarm milk

3 Tbsp. butter, softened

1 1/2 teaspoons salt

3 Tbsp. white sugar

2 tsp. onion powder

3 Tbsp. dried minced onion

1/4 cup instant mashed potato flakes

3 cups Texas Pure Milling All-Purpose Flour

1 Tbsp. (1 packet) active dry yeast

1 egg white

1 Tbsp. water

1/4 cup dried minced onions plus 1-2 Tbsp. sesame seeds (optional)

Directions:

  • Place milk, butter, salt, sugar, onion powder, dried onion, potato flakes, flour and yeast into the pan of a bread machine in the order recommended by manufacturer.

  • Select the Dough cycle, and press Start. When the cycle has completed, remove the dough from the machine, and knead on a lightly floured surface. Cut into 8 equal pieces, and form into balls.

  • Gently flatten the balls until they are 4 inches in diameter. Place on a lightly oiled sheet pan about 2 inched apart in a draft free place to rise until double in size, about 40 minutes. Preheat the oven to 350°F.

  • Whisk the egg white and 1 tablespoon water in a cup. Brush over the tops of the risen rolls, and sprinkle with remaining minced onion and sesame seeds if desired. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes in the preheated oven, until golden brown.
