Spiced Sweet Apple Cake with Salted Caramel Orange Sauce
Cake:
1 ½ cup Texas Pure Milling All Purpose Flour
½ cup Sugar
2 tsp. baking powder
½ tsp salt
1 can Lucky Leaf Premium Apple Pie filling
3 eggs
1/2 cup sour cream
1 tsp cinnamon
½ tsp pumpkin pie spice
Salted Caramel Orange Topping:
1 cup Kraft Caramel Bits
½ cup Heavy Cream
1 tsp orange zest
½ tsp sea salt
Directions:
Preheat the oven to 350°F. With a fork mix together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, apple pie filling and eggs. Gently fold in the sour cream. Spread into greased and floured 9-inch by 13-inch cake pan and sprinkle with the spiced. Bake 30-35 minutes until a wooden toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool completely.
Caramel Sauce: While the cake bakes, make the orange infused salted caramel sauce. Heat the cream and the caramel in a microwave safe dish on medium setting for 2-3 minutes, stir well. Add fresh orange zest and stir well. Sauce should be smooth.
Drizzle the sauce over the finished cake and serve, garnishing with additional sea salt if desired.
