Multi-Grain Homemade Hoagie Buns

Labor day is just around the corner, and that usually means picnics, barbecues, and grand adventures with friends and family. Here's a great recipe for homemade multi-grain hoagie rolls using our Texas Pure Milling bread flour, 7-grain and seed baking mix.

Multi-Grain Hoagie Rolls

3 cups Texas Pure Milling Bread Flour

3 cup Texas Pure Milling 7 Grain and Seed Baking Mix

1 cup whole wheat flour

2 Tbsp. Millet (optional)

2 tsp. salt

1 Tbsp. instant yeast

3 1/4 cup water (under 110 degrees)

Directions:

  • Combine all ingredients in a mixer and with a dough hook mix on medium speed 3-5 minutes until smooth and elastic. Remove from the mixer and form into a ball.

  • Place in a greased bowl and cover with plastic. Allow to raise until doubled in size, about 1 hour. Divide dough into 8 equal portions and roll into 6-inch-long buns. Place in French-bread rounded loaf pans (2 per pan).

  • Allow to raise in a warm room until doubled, about 1 hour. The rolls should be very fluffy. Slice the tops of the buns with 3-4 slashes diagonally using a very sharp knife or razor. Lightly spritzer the top of the buns with water and sprinkle with additional seeds or rolled oats if desired. Bake at 375° 35-40 minutes. yield: 8 buns
